The Media Power Building Institute is a new offering from the Black Futurists Group, founded to help progressive leaders, organizers, and innovators harness the full force of the media to drive change—not just coverage.

Under the direction of Devin Barrington-Ward, nationally recognized political strategist, media commentator, and community organizer, this institute is rooted in one core belief: Power grows where stories are told well.

Devin has built a reputation not only as a fierce voice for justice—but as a master of turning press into progress. He’s helped move millions in public funding, pass life-saving legislation, and elevate local fights like the Cop City resistance into national conversations. He didn’t do it alone—but he did it through narrative strategy, rapid-response media, and building relationships with the press.
