The Black futurists group (BFG) builds the future through public policy, advocacy, and media efforts grounded in a AFRO-futurist AND bLACK QUEER FEMINIST lens that reimagines systems, structures, institutions, and our society so that they will bend the moral arc of the universe further towards the realization of justice and liberation for Black People in our lifetime.

"Who ever heard of formerly incarcerated women closing jails?" -- Marilynn B. Winn, Executive Director of Women on the Rise and Co-Manager of the #ClosetheJailATL Campaign On Monday, May 20th, thanks to the leadership of formerly-incarcerated women at Women On The Rise, the Racial Justice Action Center, and the over 40 #CloseTheJailATL #CommunitiesOverCages Campaign Alliance members, Atlanta City Council voted YES to convene a community-led process to close the Atlanta City Detention Center and repurpose the building into a Center for Wellness & Freedom.
